Now is the perfect time to visit the Phraya Nakhon Cave in Sam Roi Yot National Park.
Located an hourโs drive from Hua Hin, the cave is renowned for its dramatic interiors and the iconic royal pavilion, which is beautifully illuminated by sunlight between November and February.
Visitors who time their trip to coincide with the sunlight streaming into the cave between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. are rewarded with a view of the โPhra Thinang Khuha Kharuehatโ pavilion bathed in golden light.
Built during the reign of King Rama V in 1890, the pavilion remains one of the caveโs most photographed features.
Getting to Phraya Nakhon Cave offers an adventure in itself. Visitors can choose to hike from Laem Sala Beach, with the trek taking 30 minutes to an hour depending on pace and fitness level. The trail includes steep sections with hand ropes for support, so proper footwear is essential. Alternatively, a boat service from Bang Pu Beach to Laem Sala Beach is available for approximately 400 baht per trip, accommodating up to six passengers. However, the boat service may be unavailable during high tide or adverse weather. Hua Hin Today visited on Dec 30 and the boats were not operating due to the conditions.
Like all national parks in Thailand visitors are required to pay an entrance fee.
Rates are set at 200 baht for foreign adults, 100 baht for foreign children, 40 baht for Thai adults, and 20 baht for Thai children. Tickets can be purchased at the park office, which also offers parking, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
Open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the cave is a must-visit for those looking to experience its natural beauty and historical significance.
